ELLIOT POTTS IS AN ARTIST WORKING WITHIN THE AREAS OF PHOTOGRAPHY AND INSTALLATION. HE STUDIED FINE ART AT CHELSEA SCHOOL OF ART, AND PHOTOGRAPHY AT LONDON COLLEGE OF COMMUNICATION.
HIS WORK IS PREOCCUPIED WITH NOTIONS OF PERCEPTUAL DEPTH AND COGNITIVE UNDERSTANDING, BETWEEN THE REAL AND THE REPRESENTED. DRAWING ON IDEAS RANGING FROM RENAISSANCE PERSPECTIVE, VIA VICTORIAN PHOTOGRAPHIC IMAGE-MAKING, THROUGH TO VIRTUAL AND AUGMENTED REALITY, HIS WORK INVESTIGATES VISUAL PERCEPTION AND OUR TRANSLATION OF SPACE VIA IMAGERY INTO EXPERIENCE.
UTILISING LOCATION BASED PHOTOGRAPHY AND SITE SPECIFIC INSTALLATION, HIS WORKS EXPLORE IDEAS OF TIME, HISTORY AND MEMORY, PROBING AT THE GAPS BETWEEN THE PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT, ITS REPRESENTATION, AND OUR OWN WAYS OF SEEING.
